The Cult Bus

As I was driving home, down my county road, I caught a glimps of yellow coming my way. I knew immediately what it was...it was the cult bus! Luckily I was close to a field entrance because they drive way too fast down the road and it would have been hard for that bus and my car to both fit on the road...I probably would have been ran off the road. I'm sure they were headed to thge river. A couple of years ago I was in my yard as they were coming back from the river and there were people sitting on the top of the bus yelling and whooping and taking pictures. Crazy city folk.

Their annual summer retreat is in full swing this weekend and there are hippies and Hindus everywhere. I believe the 'cult', as I call it, is actually a new age Hindu commune. The people that run it wear long orange robes and are Indian (not the Native American kind). They are nice and don't bug anyone, but I hate this summer retreat. There are city people from all over the country, along with the young hippies, that converge right next to my house. They drive up and down the road (that my cats like to nap on) at high speed and have been known to pick all the blackberries along OUR fence line. And there will be at least one night this weekend where I'll be able to hear music and other stuff coming through the woods because they set up speakers outside. It's just all really annoying!

Found!!!

Noel has been missing for over a week. I just found her outside. She's been hurt and her left eye is swollen shut, but I've looked at it and I think it will be fine, but may take her to the vet tomorrow if it looks worse. I'm not sure what kind of animal she's gotten into a fight with. I'm just glad she's back...I had counted her as lost forever.

Yard Sale or I'm Trying to Get People to Buy Junk I Don't Want

It's been years since we've had a yard. My grandma lives on the main street in our small town, so we have them there. I missed out on Friday's sale because of work. I made $97.35 though! So here I am...sitting and waiting for customers. I love yard sales. It's fun to see what people will buy. Plus you get to sit around and visit with friends, family and the occational stranger.

Burning Trash

Yes...out here in the country we burn trash. Or at least we burn the burnable stuff like paper. No use filling up landfills with stuff like that. And I refuse to believe that me burning paper plates and newspapers is bad for the environment. Recycling might be better, but they don't come out to the country to pick up your recycled stuff.

Seriously...sometimes I am ashamed to be from the area. Stupid redneck hicks think this makes them look 'country'. It makes them look like a bunch of ignorant hillbillies. Friendly Snake

There was a little black snake just hanging out on my county road as I drove home today. He didn't move a muscle when I stopped and put my phone 5 inches from his head. Usually they slither away pretty fast. By the way...he was only about two foot long.

Question of the day: Why do butterflies like poop? This is something I've never understood. Why would one of God's prettiest creations eat poop...because I'm pretty sure that's what they're doing. Dung beetles I get...butterflies I don't.

Backsplash Tiling

Check out how sweet the stove backsplash looks. And...it was a total accident. The counters on either side of the stove were different heights (off by over a 1/4 inch) so we could not continue our subway tile pattern because the caulk lines wouldn't have lined up right. We happened to have two full squares of glass tiles (plus a little more), and this is what we came up with. Like Bob Ross always said, "there's no accidents, just happy little mistakes". It's going to be the coolest part of the whole backsplash!

Sanding Circles

Don't ever paint circles (or any shape for that matter) on your walls. You will eventually have to sand them down when you decide to paint again. If I were to just paint over these, I'd be able to see the shapes under the paint because there's extra paint layers where the circles are.
